Ruthless… Heartless… Brutal… Evil!

This is Oman.. Norman Jiao, actually… we fondly call him

Oman! And by we, I mean all the almost 200 members of the Association of Foundations Network which he runs smoothly for the past … I don’t know… lots of years?! as its Executive Director. He is very funny, very welcoming and very organized type of guy.. that he breezed through the annual gathering of members (each one with the most varied ideas, the most brilliant but diverse plan and the most outspoken, pigheaded executives running either a corporate or a religious foundation) with ease and savvy that no sooner than the first “hello” uttered in the program… evryone’s laughing and lighthearted because of his welcome Humor and satire…

Not more than 9 hours ago, Oman had to suffer something so brutal and ruthless that no man, no matter how evil deserve to endure. At noontime, today(GMT +8), men, believed to be robbers (akyat bahay gang) entered the house of Oman’s parents, in Talayan, Quezon City, hogtied all who were there and torched the place down. Three household help, Oman’s mother Felicitas, and his beautiful three year old daughter Selina Therese, which he fondly calls “Nina”, died in the incident, their charred remains were all positively identified and forensic investigation showed that both his daughter and Mother were stabbed to death before the house were burned down. Only Oman’s father, Geronimo, survived and as of the latest email, was out of danger. He just told the investigators that he knows one of them burglars…

How people can be so heartless and brutal… I don’t really understand. How something this evil ever happen to a very gentle man, to one who believes in the innate goodness of each person, to someone with a very beautiful heart and quick and witty mind, I cannot fathom at all… All I know is, Oman’s 3 year old princess, Nina, who brings twinkle in her father’s eyes and was only passing by her grandparent’s house to excitedly tell them how her first day of Nursery school went, was stabbed to death and her fragile body charred, and it made me cry with anger, and uncertainty and fear… How Oman feels at this moment I cannot even begin to wonder.

Oman, my dear friend, I can only offer my grief, my condolences, my PRAYERS… and, as you already know, anything our agency can extend in way of help with all these, we offer it… you don’t even need to ask
