When I saw the theme by Heather this week and saw her beautiful picture with it, I thought I won’t be able to think of something to post for this week’s theme… then I remembered this photo (taken by my sister with her Olympus film camera) and now I’m happy I could advertise it … I had to look for the picture, though and scan it again because the last time I scanned it to be pasted in the blog it has some speck of dirt everywhere…LOL… so here it is….
Over a Thousand Chocolaty Curves…:
The CHOCOLATE HILLS of Bohol, Philippines
The Chocolate Hills is an unusual geological “curves” formation in the province of Bohol, Philippines. The hometown province of my father’s side of the family. This Wonder of Nature is composed of around 1,268 perfectly curved cone-shaped hills, all about the same size, spread over an area of more than 50 sq km. They look like giant mole hills, or as some say, the curves of women's breasts, it can also remind us of the hills in a small child's drawing.
Most people who first see pictures of this landscape can hardly believe that these hills are not a man-made artifact. However, this idea is quickly abandoned, as the effort in building more than a thousand of these over so many kilometers would surely surpass the construction of the pyramids in Egypt.
These hills are very uniform in shape and mostly between 30 and 50 meters high. They are covered with grass so the hills appear green, and the association to its name is a bit difficult to make, But at the end of the dry season, these grasses turns chocolate brown. From this color, the hills derive their name.
NOW, Ad… LOL
