Mono Monday #5 - Life from the Past

Monochromatic Monday #5

“Life from the Past”

I was actually waiting for Mono Monday to be up… because I’m following gary’s tutorials most of my mono’s for the week are from the learning I got from the past week… and since I have stopped trying to figure out PS as of yesterday, I’m using my now favorite picnik, which I also heard and learned from the peeps here in mono Monday…

So here’s my original picture… it is actually a corner table placed between my room and the other’s in the hotel suite named Linden Suites in Pasig City Metro Manila… for almost a week I get to see it 1st thing when I go out and last thing when I get in my room… it stood so lonely there against a wall with doors on the other three corners… each time I pass it I take a picture of it but the focus is not good, the lighting is terrible and as gary said.. a BLAH picture…

John who stays in the other room was surprised when he saw me sitting on the door taking picture of the table… he said, what’s so special it isn’t even antique… but it looks very sweet and almost Victorian to me especially with that single plant on top… but it’s true it’s a disregarded ornament in that area… so I tried to turn it from BLAH to and AHHHHH by:

  • Loading it to picnik.com
  • Adjusted the exposure so that the lighting will look good
  • Adjust the contrast click even the advance button to adjust shadows up by 10, brightness up by 10, highlights up by 20
  • Then the color tab, adjust the saturation up by 10 and temperature up by 10
  • Still not satisfied , I went to sharpen by 15
  • Then I cropped the sides because I only wanted the drawer/table, all the other surroundings are not pretty at all… (the light switch ggrrrr)
  • Then I went to the Create tab
  • Click the boost and adjust by 10
  • Click Sepia
  • Then as gary taught the other week (#3), selected the plant portion and repaint it back to it’s original green…. Just to put the life back in a cold victorian surrounding…. LOL

So here it is, the final product:
