He left us on a Saturday, September 20, 2008... while he was vacationing in Hongkong. IT was a shock to everyone, not that he was in tip top shape, he had already undergone two bypass operations ten years ago or so... but still, we weren't prepared for his going. But then again, what a good way to go... he was at the last day of his vacation with all three of his four children, their spouses and his grandchildren. They were about to go back to Davao that afternoon, but in the morning, while having breakfast with his wife, he just went... just like that.. no struggle at all... his daughter in law said it best when she said, Dad didn't want the wonderful vacation to end! A chinese friend told the family, only the fortunate ones are lucky enough to get a good death like this, surrounded by loved ones and without any struggle... so with all these words, how could we ever not let go... and with alot of people visiting him during the wake... bringing flowers and prayers... we were all overwhelmed. He indeed touched so many lives... By being a Doctor, a colleague, an uncle, golf buddy, singing buddy, father, grandfather and most especially husband!
We buried Dr. Zosimo Ermac just this afternoon and it was a sad but beautiful funeral! and i knoe wherever he is, he was smiling his usual smile with eyes lighting up...
Goodbye Uncle Zim, I know i don't have my Uncle Doc now when i get sick, but i know you will be just around the corner telling us to keep ourselves healthy!... I will surely miss you... but we will meet each other again someday!!!... meanwhile, we will never forget.. the shadow of your smile....
