Mono Monday Plus #1
Under the Sea… Used to be!
This is another view of Davao… this was shot in a place called Jack’s Ridge.
A rather famous eating area nowadays as many locals bring their visitors here to eat dinner. It’s really a restaurant, bar, coffee shop which now has Bed and Breakfast as well as a swimming pool all atop the hill with a good view of the Central area of Davao City on the ridge part.
Used to be… Under the Sea
Tried to do the traditional mono using picnic as usual. I cropped it to emphasize the “taclobo” or Giant clams unearthed right in that very place on the ridge. I upped the contrast and exposure then turned it into sepia through create tab. After the sepia effect I brought back the color of the davao coastline and part of the city down below the hill and also the original color of the “Taclobo” so as to show that it came as far away from the coast. Here’s what happened:
Now for the Plus part…
I opened both pictures in GIMP, then I took the one with the inscribed words on it so I can post it on the post where the higher “Taclobo” was placed. Using the irregular shape selector, I trace the outline of the shape and then cut it then in the other picture I duplicated a layer and paste the image there… then I semi-flatten the image. After that I brought the picture back to picnic to tweak its exposure and contrast again and turn it sepia and brought all the other colors back… here it is after:
I know, I know.. I should have stopped there… but I kinda enjoyed myself so I said why not put another Taclobo there to make them three.. so since the other picture is still open in GIMP I traced the outline again using the selector then cut and paste it to the picture up there then brought it back to Picnik and did the usual tweaking…. I wasn;t really happy with it this time cause I think I really did OVER dID it! Lmao!!! But since I already made it, might as well post it, right??? Hahahaha anyways… here’s what it turned out to be… try as I may, I cant make it better… rofl!! So this is it… MONO MON+ #1:
